It was lightly sprinkling, but we were determined to have a fire at our fire pit. It was so nice with the crickets singing, the smell of the wood burning, the crackling of the fire wood, and the relaxing sensation of watching the fire. Our boys were having a ball talking with us and their grandparents, while toasting & burning marshmallows and hot dogs. What a wonderful relaxing evening at the fire pit. Stay in our North Georgia Vacation Cabins and experience the relaxation of hanging out around the campfire.

Orb Spider Building Web
During our vacation to our cabin rentals, we were so fascinated watching this spider build his web in front of our eyes. This Orb Spider built his spider web in between two chain pulls coming down from our outside porch Light Fan. We noticed the night before that his web looked kind of torn up, so he decided to build a sturdier web. We watched this spider as small bugs flew into his web. He immediately scurried down to the newly caught bug, and started spinning the bug in the web that was there. He then secreted more web (from his web hole.... I don't know what the scientific name for it is) and was wrapping the bug even more. Before you knew it, the caught bug was wrapped up like a little "Bug Mummy." The next morning we would visit the spider web, and it was missing a bunch of web pieces and we saw him resting on the fan. The next night, the process started all over again. During our visit, we called him our "Pet Spider." There is always something fascinating happening at our North Georgia Cabin Rentals, and I am there with a camera to take photos or video clips of these exciting instances. I tried to upload a longer video clip of the orb spider circling his web while making it, but it wouldn't upload.

Bass Fishing in the North Georgia Mountains

During our visit to Holly Pine Haven in September, my son found his way on the ATV to Fightingtown Creek. I drove to Fightingtown Creek in our van and it is 1.1 miles from our cabins. If our guests wanted to walk from the cabin, it is in walking distance if you are used to walking up and down gravel & dirt roads that are hilly. It is definitely cardiovascular exercise. Make sure your ticker is in good health or just drive your vehicle. Fightingtown Creek is off the dirt road in back of our cabins. Here is a picture of a 13" Small Mouth Bass that my son caught using Joe's Brand Spin Flies. My son gutted the fish by himself and cooked the meat in a pan with butter and garlic. He said it was the best tasting fish he ever had. He just told me he caught sun fish and trout from this same creek. Wish I had been there to take pictures of the other fish he caught!
If you stay in our Blue Ridge Cabins, you too can fish from his same creek and catch some pretty good fish.

Night Time Sounds in North Georgia Mountains
Here is a video clip of the night-time sounds of the crickets, katydids, and anything else that we don't see in the dark that makes sounds. I could easily fall asleep listening to the night time music made by mother nature. The North Georgia Mountains are wonderful and we truly enjoy the nature provided around our North Georgia Cabins.
